Four People Shot at Howe Park - Unauthorized Gathering Turns Violent
On the evening of Saturday April 18, an unsanctioned event of several hundred people at the Howe Park area in the Arden-Arcade section of Sacramento ended in a shooting when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots rang out as deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office were attempting to breaking up the gathering.
How Events Unfolded
Around 6:30 in the evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department received calls about individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at Howe Park. A second caller advised of a potential fight and people leaving the area quickly.
An airship was called in and surveyed the area from above but could not find any physical confrontation.
At the same time, hundreds of individuals had assembled at the location for what the sheriff's office identified as an unapproved assembly. Deputies surrounded the park, switched on their vehicle lights, and took about 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse through their vehicle PA systems.
As officers worked to clear the park, 20 to 25 gunshots rang out — triggering a panicked crowd in a panic.
The Victims
Four people — one female and three males, all believed to be in their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals. Two were classified with immediate injuries, read more one victim had moderate injuries, and one victim sustained minor injuries. All four were said to be here in stable condition. The Crime Scene
The crime scene was located on the Cottage Way side side of the park alongside the Home Depot store at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue in Sacramento. The Home Depot was temporarily locked down. More shell casings were identified on Cottage Way, with bullet impacts found in the iron fence adjacent to the nearby Home Depot — suggesting rounds fired in a southerly here direction from along Cottage Way toward the Home Depot parking lot. Crime scene investigators and detectives investigated the scene through the night.
Suspect Information
According to scanner audio, it was revealed that a suspect car — identified as a Kia — was contacted in the Solano County area with four people in custody. SCSO deputies were en route to collect the suspects and bring them back to Sacramento for questioning. Video evidence confirmed two gunmen were check here present.
